Getting Here
The Andrés Sabella Gálvez International Airport (ANF) serves Antofagasta and is located about 25 kilometers north of the city center. For most travelers, the easiest and most common way to get into town is by taking an official airport taxi or pre-booked private transfer. The ride to the Hotel Diego De Almagro Costanera should take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Sometimes rideshare services are also available; always be sure to either agree on a fare beforehand or make certain that the meter has been turned on before departure.
If you are arriving on an intercity or international long-distance bus, all services use the main Terminal de Buses Carlos Oviedo Cavada, a few kilometers from hotels either in the center or along the Costanera. From here, the easiest way to reach any of these is by a short, inexpensive taxi ride taking about 10-15 minutes. Local city buses (‘micros’) also operate up and down the main avenues but attempting to figure out this system for the first time with luggage in tow is not recommended.
For those guests arriving by car, Antofagasta sits right on Chile's principal north-south highway, Route 5 (Pan-American). The hotel is also easy to find since it fronts the flashy new Avenida Costanera. One huge plus for this hotel is free secure private parking on site—a gigantic bonus in any busy downtown area and makes this hotel top choice material for road trippers or anyone exploring the Atacama Desert region by vehicle.
